Areas of focus for student retention
Réunir Réussir (R2) has been given a mandate to encourage
student retention and the educational success of young Quebecers. Our
role is to support the liaison and coordination efforts aimed at
keeping students in school initiated by different actors/stakeholders and regions.
To coordinate and harmonize different actions and facilitate
networking among the various actors and stakeholders (at the local
and regional levels and between those two levels), Réunir
Réussir (R2) has set up
four areas of focus for intersector instances
régionales mobilisées (IRM) committed to student
retention.
Réunir Réussir (R2) provides support for:
- regional and local mobilization and action
initiatives aimed at keeping students in school
- the sharing and brokering of knowledge and
good practices
- Aboriginal student retention
- the creation of an inter-regional forum
leading to a practice exchange network for IRMs
Regional organizations that are developing a project that
corresponds to one of these four areas and that meets our
eligibility criteria may submit a request for funding based on the
annual schedule.
Regional and local mobilization and
action initiatives aimed at keeping students in school
Réunir Réussir (R2) will work with each
instance régionale mobilisée (IRM) to create a structured approach
that will result in a common vision, a common goal and common
action to promote the educational success of young people under 20,
in their region. Réunir Réussir (R2) will provide financial
assistance and support, as well as the advisory and liaison
services of a Territory Coordinator to help develop and implement a
concerted, multi-sector regional and local action plan. Support
will be provided based on the specific needs of each region.
Sharing and brokering knowledge in the
areas of student retention and mobilization
To encourage the sharing and transfer of knowledge in the areas
of student retention and mobilization, Réunir Réussir
(R2) will create a
virtual network to exchange theoretical and practical knowledge and
proven best practices.
This network will be made up of Quebec organizations that are
already recognized as depositories of specialized knowledge or
knowledge-transfer hubs.
Our objective is to boost regional empowerment and match
identified needs with tools that have been proven to be
effective.
Aboriginal student retention
To serve the specific needs of young Aboriginals-whether they
are living in an Aboriginal community or not-Réunir Réussir
(R2) will provide
support for actions that been shown to be effective with this
clientele. We will also provide backing for innovative pilot
projects that apply recognized winning conditions in student
retention.
Creation of an inter-regional
forum
In response to needs expressed by the IRMs, Réunir
Réussir (R2) will
participate in the creation of a practice-exchange network among
the regions that will enable existing actors and stakeholders to
share their region's experience, optimize their respective
strengths, promote new knowledge and encourage the dissemination of
specific regional or local actions.
